The Board of Trustees (BoT) of ZACADIA (Zanzibar-Canadian Diaspora Association) is pleased to announce that Mr Yussuf M.
Hassan (above) is the new Manager of
the Organization. This was the result of the Board’s scrutiny of three
applicants during its third meeting since it dissolved the Management
Team.
In his new role as
the Manager, Mr Yussuf will be responsible and accountable for providing an able leadership
while ensuring proper execution of day to day activities in order to achieve all of Zacadia’s operating
objectives, promote a positive Zanzibari culture of “TUPO PAMOJA working toward
the same goal”and ensure the welfare of all Zanzibaris living in Canada through
the adherence of the fact that we are all NDUGU and that UMOJA NI NGUVU.
Yussuf is tasked to manage Zacadia
as one high performing team, where respectful, open, positive and
dynamic dialogues prevail and members’ ideas and advice are listened to, followed-up on and acted upon as appropriate.
Yussuf brings to Zacadia progressive
growth and rich experience from his career, working and volunteering in a
variety of roles which consisted of: University of Toronto Settlement Program
Assistant, Legal Assistant with Etienne Law Office (Toronto), Interpreter with Immigration and Refugee Board
of Toronto, Resource Centre Assistant with OASIS Employment Centre in Toronto,
and most recently as Engagement & Outreach Assistant with Action For Neighbourhood Change.
He holds a
Bachelor of Art (BA) degree in Human Rights and Equity Studies and has just
received a Certificate in Public Policy and Law
from the University of York.

in congratulating and welcoming aboard Mr Yussuf Hassan. Let’s all give him our genuine support in
his new role in our Organization.
With the Manager in place, BoT is now calling for Zanzibaris
living in Canada to apply for the vacant Directors’ positions for the
different Directorates which have been streamlined to three:

[2] Directorate of Women, Children and the Disabled, and
[3] Directorate of Business Development.
